Job Title: Employee Relations Manager (Change Management)
Location: London (Hybrid – 2 days a week on-site)
Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term
Salary: £52,000 - £57,000

Overview:
We are currently recruiting an experienced Employee Relations (ER) Manager on behalf of our client, a leading higher education institution in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a strong background in employee relations, change management, and trade union consultation. The role offers a 6-month fixed-term contract, with a competitive salary and the flexibility of hybrid working (2 days on-site per week).

About the Role:
As the ER Manager, you will be an integral part of the institution’s HR team, taking the lead in managing complex employee relations issues within a change management environment. You will be responsible for supporting the institution’s workforce through ongoing transitions, ensuring a smooth process and a positive employee experience. The role will involve close collaboration with trade unions, as well as key stakeholders, to navigate issues, provide guidance, and ensure the implementation of best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead on employee relations strategy in a change management context, helping guide the organization through significant transformations.
Manage complex employee relations issues, providing expert advice and resolution on matters such as grievances, disciplinaries, performance management, and redundancy.
Consult with trade unions to negotiate agreements, resolve conflicts, and ensure positive industrial relations.
Provide advice and guidance to senior leadership and line managers on managing change and supporting employees through the process.
Partner with key internal stakeholders to support the implementation of organizational changes, ensuring alignment with HR policies and practices.
Champion best practices in employee relations, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and organizational policies.
Foster a positive organizational culture by proactively addressing concerns and promoting effective communication across teams.
Key Requirements:

Significant experience in Employee Relations management, preferably within a higher education environment.
Proven expertise in managing change management processes, especially in complex, evolving environments.
Extensive experience in trade union consultation and negotiation, with the ability to manage union relationships effectively.
Strong understanding of employment law and best practices in employee relations.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees, managers, and union representatives.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and professionalism.
Higher education experience is strongly preferred but not essential.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
