The Finance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the financial health and strategic direction of the organisation. By analysing financial data, identifying trends, and producing actionable insights, the Finance Analyst helps drive informed decision-making across departments.
Their work will be integral in ensuring the business can deliver its financial strategy, optimise performance, allocate resources efficiently, and meet both short- and long-term financial objectives.
In addition to technical analysis, the Finance Analyst serves as a key communicator of financial information, translating complex data into clear narratives and reports for stakeholders at all levels. Their ability to connect financial metrics with broader business strategies makes them an essential partner in shaping organisational success.
Role & Responsibilities?
• Responsible for providing high quality, accurate financial analysis on strategic projects with insightful commentary to senior stakeholders including SLT.
• Analyse and interpret financial and non-financial trends, by reference to previous years and external data, providing added value commentary and propose actions to address issues.
• Produce analysis to support strategic decision making around structural and operational review.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the University to provide strategic insights and solutions/proposals to drive decision making through high-quality financial analysis.
• Responsible for the production of the Income Financial Model for review by the Head of FA & MA.
• Assisting in the development of the University 5-year strategic financial plan through the financial summaries/analysis from the income model.
• Complete the management accounting processes related to month-end, year-end, forecasting and budgeting for the Corporate Directorate.
• Responsible for producing the annual budget templates for update by the FP&A team.
• Support the Head of FA & MA in producing the monthly reporting pack for SLT, Finance Committee and the Board.
• Produce regular strategic update papers for SLT, Finance Committee and the Board as requested by Senior Finance Leadership.
• Managing the month-end close process, troubleshooting reporting issues and assisting in developing new reports for the FP&A team with the Systems and Change team.
• Process review in Management Accounts team and drawing up proposals for process improvement.
• Line management and development of 2 x Trainee Accountants.
• To deputise for Head of FA & MA where required.
• To provide cover for Management Accounts team where required.
