Financial Accountant - Treasury

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join our Financial Accounting, Tax & Treasury team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a key role in treasury management, financial accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting within a large and complex Higher Education organisation.

Working closely with senior finance colleagues, you will support treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, investment management, tax activities, and financial control processes while helping ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.

This role offers exposure to a broad range of finance activities and provides the opportunity to work with internal and external stakeholders across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
You will take responsibility for:
- Treasury management and cash flow forecasting
- Investment management and covenant reporting
- Endowment and donation fund management
- Bank and investment account reconciliations
- Foreign exchange valuations
- Management, reporting, administration, and tax compliance for subsidiary entities
- Supporting month-end and year-end financial processes
- Assisting with audit preparation and external audit requirements
- Maintaining accurate financial records and control accounts
- Providing cover and support across the wider financial accounting team
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and enhanced financial controls

About You:
We're looking for someone who can combine strong technical accounting expertise with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Post-qualification experience in financial accounting, treasury, and/or tax
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
- Experience using Oracle Fusion or a similar accounting system
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Desirable Requirements:
- Experience in a higher education, public sector, or similarly complex environment
- Knowledge of financial regulations and value-for-money principles
- Experience managing financial control accounts and reconciliations
- Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups
- Experience embedding inclusive practices within service delivery

This role operates within a hybrid working model. Successful candidates will typically spend at least 60% of their working time on-site, with the remainder working remotely, subject to business requirements and agreement with line management.
